Peanut butter is a good source of protein for vegetarians and vegans. Peanut butter can be eaten as it is, usually on bread where the proteins complement each other. Peanut butter can also be cooked. Peanut butter has as strong flavour which may mask the flavours of other items cooked with it.

The healthiest peanut butter is salt and sugar free or has low salt.
