The protein in rice complements the protein in pulses and eating rice up to two or three times a week is healthy. Rice typically contains impurities absorbed from the soil where it grows and ideally shouldn't be eaten daily, certainly not more than once daily and children under 4 to 5 years old shouldn't be given rice milk instead of regular milk. People with cultural links to South East Asian, people who need to avoid gluten, vegetarians and vegans frequently eat more rice than the general population and need to take greater care.
